Lastly, another very notable place to get your theatre fix is at the College of Charleston. Though it may not be a professional theater company like PURE of Charleston Stage, they are just as good. Our theatre department is comprised of many students aiming to either major or minor in theatre performance or production. Some of which actually participate in professional theatre companies aside from the college's department.
Our Theatre program here is very big and also fairly prestigious. They've even gone to perform at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival(KC/ACTF). This year they even have a few productions going to The Piccolo Spoleto Festival.
Their performances consist of Mainstage productions which are run through the school and directed by our wonderful theatre faculty. And also Centerstage productions which are student run and directed. There are 3 Mainstage productions offered a semester along with several Centerstage productions as well as other things like rough draft, where those involved with Centerstage get to showcase their writing and perform.
This is a good way to experience great theatre while also supporting our amazing theatre students!
